I thought C. Palmers was average.
Same with Circus-Circus, which is where many locals and cabbies will tell you to go, probably bcuz of all the RJ awards they have won. Big Deal, the RJ's a rag.
Hugo's Cellar is terrific. Plus, ladies get a rose. If you're only fine dining one night I'd say do Hugo's.
If you're downtown you can also try Binions. I liked it, very good steaks and sides, but the casino is as dead as Ted (sister Becky did this job though, not Sandy Skank).
Gallaghers is good, especially if you like to see beef hanging while being dry-aged (carnivores do). Also, they serve roasted garlic cloaves on top of their steaks, which is always cool.
Golden Steer is OK, but overpriced, you're paying for tradition and old-Vegas name brand there. But HUGE portions.
Mortons sucked, cigar smoking allowed, nothing like getting served your Porterhouse right as the asshole 21-year olds at the table next to you lite up 10-inch long cheap cigars trying to impress their dates.
Michaels is highly rated, but highly over-rated in my book, I swear I can do better at home.
If you're with a date or the wife I'd suggest Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.
Good steaks, not huge but it's French, what'd u expect?
They are good though, come with a variety of sauces, best bread in town (if you're not from Vegas you're thinking "who gives a fuk about bread?", if you're from Vegas you'll understand), best scalloped potatoes in town if you're a meat and potato man, and best French Onion Soup. Most of all though, it's atmosphere - get an outside table, you can check out the tourists for amusement and for background entertainment you have the Bellagio water show. Pretty romantic, chicks love it.
